Yes, that's so true. And, is another reason I'm holding off. VERY often a new motor has problems "out the gate." And, over time gets them resolved. This has happened to the best (3W, in my opinion) and MANY times, as well, to DA even. So, yes, I've talked to Randy and Tavis and things are going great with them and this NEW rev of 180s, but Tavis also says he's only really hovered it. So, I have questions. haha And, don't forget, ZDZ has had trouble with cranks, even on the original 180. And, it's not like ZDZ and others can't have problems. The ZDZ cylinder lining would peel off back in the early 2000s and plane after plane went in when the motors seized up. Eventually they got it worked out, but it happens. So, again, I have questions. I ponied up my money and tried one (along with buying two DA-170s, one 3W-170CS, and one DLE-170) so I'm doing what I can to gauge all these current motors. This all in less than a year. I'm trying to be informed. :)

Oh, I wanted to say about that, all the flights, from the first to the last, on the plane when it had the ZDZ-180 on it were perfect. No performance loss or anything. The plane and engine and prop and spinner and every part you can mention were cosmetically and functionally (as far as I could tell) in perfect shape AT THE TIME I took the engine off. I just felt a drag. When I shipped the motor in there is no way I expected not to be running that, or another, ZDZ-180 on that plane again. I was very surprised by the whole experience, very.

That's not Zpoxy you see around the hinge there, it's SUPER LUBE! lol

Another amazing flying session with no guys and no flies. Haha No wind at all, either. Some mosquitos when I was packing up, but I wear an $8 bee keeper's hat and that pretty much takes care of that.

Gotta find some time to get this thing done. I have a little incentive right now because @Spats and @Xpress are talking about coming to fly with me on Saturday. :epic:

I did get out for a few minutes of garage dink'n yesterday. I started hinging the ailerons. Not wanting to take any more chances on how ARF hinges are going to hold up, I went ahead and added an extra hinge to each end and used Robart hinges instead of the included hinges. I hung the aileron with some tape this time so that the glue could puddle around the hinge internally, but I usually never bother with that as with ZAP epoxy I've never had a hinge come loose.

After all these years the truss control horn slots are still not cut far enough apart to use conicals. They only allow for a balljoint between them. Hard to believe.
